🌾 International Day of Rural Women October 15, 2026

October 15, 2026 | Other Activities

International Day of Rural Women

How significant is the role of women in driving the rural economy in Bantul Regency?

Rural women make important contributions to community life. Their roles are not limited to household duties but also extend to various economic activities, ranging from agriculture, trade, and manufacturing to the service sector.

According to data from the August 2025 National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas), the majority of working women in Bantul Regency are employed as laborers, employees, or staff. In addition, many women run their own businesses and help sustain family businesses, including home-based enterprises and local handicrafts such as batik.

These diverse roles demonstrate that women play a vital part in driving the economy. Their contributions extend beyond income to include family economic resilience, the sustainability of local businesses, and the well-being of rural communities.

However, women’s empowerment must continue to be promoted through equal employment opportunities, access to education and skills training, technology, economic resources, and opportunities to participate in decision-making.

On this International Day of Rural Women, let’s appreciate every effort and contribution made by women who are helping to build a more prosperous rural life. 💚

**Empowered women, a growing rural economy, a more prosperous Bantul
